Fun Spots for the Week: May 23 – May 29

  • Meet up with Columbus Landmarks at Columbus Public Health on Monday for an hour long walk where you’ll learn about the history of the area. Free.
  • Start the week off with a relaxing yoga session at Blendon Woods. All age groups and levels welcome. Bring a towel or mat! Free.
  • Sports Ohio has open play every Friday, however, this week, they are offering it 5/23, 5/24, 5/25, 5/26, 5/30 and 5/31!
  • Join Columbus Commons for a FREE workout class this week. They have a few different classes. Bootcamp on Monday, Yoga on Tuesday, Kickboxing on Wednesday and so much more!
  • ColumBEST Extravaganza is happening on Wednesday at Franklin Park Conservatory. This is going to be an amazing event. All of your favorite places, businesses & restaurants will all be in one spot + there will be zoo animals and live entertainment all night.
  • Tacos, Margaritas and More  benefiting the Byron Saunders Foundation takes place on Wednesday  from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Yabo’s Tacos in Powell. They will have live music and an auction, too. Join this event to help them raise money to feed 3000 families by Thanksgiving. The food at Yabo’s is AMAZING!
  • Get the ball rolling on your summer of reading with the kick off of Westerville’s Summer Reading program. Activities will include classic schoolyard games, an indoor agility course, pompom soccer and sports-themed crafts. 10:00-12:00 & 5:00-7:00. Free.
  • Party at the Creek at Alum Creek Park North on Thursday. Explorations of nature, tours of scenic green spaces and waterways and family-friendly fun are the featured themes of the party! Local nature and environmental groups will be on hand, boater safety demonstrations and canoeing, as well as food and entertainment will be part of the evening. This is a free event!
  • Head to Grandview Pizza Cucinova on Thursday from 6-8PM for an event filled with freshly tapped brews from North High Brewing, $10 pizza and beer deals, live music, raffle prizes and more!
  • Grab Authentic Japanese Ramen with Tokyo Go Go Truck on Thursday at Brother’s Drake.
  • Looking to explore Franklinton? Thursday, head to Rehab Tavern for their 10 for $10 wine tasting. Right next door is Land Grant and across the street is Strongwater.
  • Kick off the summer (and school being out) at the first Commons for Kids of the season! Free.
  • Enjoy a campfire sing along and explore the world of nature at night through hikes, displays, games, crafts and more at Highbanks Family Fun Night. Free.
  • Most of our public pools and splash pads open this weekend!! I am most looking forward to Highland Aquatic opening! They are the only pool I know of in Columbus to offer preschool swim (9:00 – 11:00 each morning, ages 6 & under).
  • Saturday and Sunday, head to Franklin Park Conservatory for the Asian Festival.
  • The last Saturday of every month, Gateway Film Center offers child-friendly short films from around the world, paired with music by The Shazzbots, time for dancing and lobby activities. This Saturday, the film will be Dr. Seuss.
  • Come out and celebrate with The Columbus Zoo during the opening weekend of the ALL NEW Shores Park featuring an exciting 4-D theater and an interactive play park. Sid and Scrat from Ice Ice will be there!
  • Looking for a new brunch spot? Join United Way’s PRIDE Council at The Chintz Room for a drag charity brunch. This event requires a reservation.
  • As always, one of my favorite brunch spots is Oddfellows in the Short North. They have brunch on Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00-3:00. Buffet for $8 with a weekly changing menu & boozy cereal cocktails!
