About

Hello there! My name is Megan Rivers and I’m the voice, author, and avid explorer behind Eat Play CBUS. I created this blog as a way to share my love for all the amazing things Columbus has to offer with others. Whether it’s through pictures, posts, or comments, I’m always striving to provide valuable insights and recommendations. One of my favorite things about running this blog is being able to highlight the passion and hard work of businesses, both big and small, near and far. Thank you for joining me on this journey of discovery and adventure!

Oh, and since November 2018, I’m proud to say that I’m also a mama to triplet girls! You can read more about that incredible journey here.

Meet my husband Stephen, the burger connoisseur and self-proclaimed nerd. Even though we’ve known each other since elementary school, our love story didn’t officially begin until a few years after high school. On weekends, you’ll find him cheering on all Ohio teams, from the Browns to the Reds, the Buckeyes to the Crew. And when he’s not busy rooting for his favorite sports teams, he’s indulging his love for all things Star Wars. With his unique blend of passions and interests, Stephen brings a fun and dynamic energy to our lives, and I feel incredibly lucky to have him by my side.

We love immersing ourselves in the vibrant festival scene here in Columbus. From the mouthwatering eats at the Food Truck Festival, to the musical talents showcased at Jazz & Rib Fest, there is never a shortage of entertainment in this city. Of course, one of our top picks is Comfest, where we can’t resist soaking up the energy and creativity of the community. There’s just something magical about the atmosphere of these festivals that keeps us coming back year after year.

If it involves outdoor adventure, you can count me in! Hocking Hills is an incredible destination for those seeking thrilling experiences, and one of our absolute favorites is Hocking Hills Canopy Tours. Flying through the treetops provides stunning views unlike any other, and we can’t recommend it enough!

Attending the PRIDE festival is always a top priority for us. It’s an incredible day filled with love, celebration, and acceptance. In 2017, we had the honor of being part of the Chipotle float and it was a truly unforgettable experience. People were coming from all directions to join in on the fun – it was clear that the love for Chipotle is strong! Plus, I have to give a shoutout to my husband’s DIY shorts – they were a hit! Whenever there’s an opportunity to support the Columbus community and showcase our love for all people, we are there!

Big hats and sunglasses mean only one thing – my sister and I are off to a concert! We love catching live shows around town, and luckily, Columbus has no shortage of great venues. Some of our favorite bands are local like The Floorwalkers and Honey and Blue. There’s something truly special about experiencing music in person, and we try to take advantage of every opportunity to do so.

Participating in 5Ks is something I enjoy doing a few times each year, as it allows me to support some of my favorite charities while also getting some exercise. And if I’m being honest, the shiny medal you get at the end doesn’t hurt either! In 2015, my dad and I completed the Cap City Half Marathon, and it was an experience unlike any other. Not only was the course flat and the medal massive, but the atmosphere was truly electrifying. From the supportive spectators to the other runners, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of love and excitement throughout the entire day.

Don’t mind the 5-pound weights – I didn’t realize I should have grabbed something heavier! Working out is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m always excited to try out new fitness studios around Columbus. Of course, there are a select few that are at the top of my list and I frequent often. But one thing I love about the fitness scene here is the abundance of free pop-up classes. My personal favorites are the workouts at Columbus Commons – there’s just something about exercising outdoors that makes it even more enjoyable.

It’s all about balance, isn’t it? I mean, who doesn’t love a good workout followed by a box of pizza shared with their favorite girls? Columbus is lucky to have so many amazing pizza spots to choose from, but my personal favorites have to be Late Night Slice, Paulie Gee’s, and Hounddogs. There’s just something about the combination of cheesy goodness and great company that makes for a perfect night out!

Overall, my blog and my life are all about celebrating everything that makes Columbus such a wonderful city. From the outdoor festivals to the local pizza joints, there’s always something new and exciting to discover here. But most importantly, I’m passionate about supporting local businesses and organizations. Whether it’s through attending charity 5ks or highlighting small businesses on my blog, I believe that we all have the power to make a difference in our community. So join me in exploring all that Columbus has to offer, and let’s continue to show our love for this amazing city by supporting the people and places that make it great!
