Holiday Events 12/12 – 12/18

Can you believe that there are only two weeks left until Christmas and a few short days after, its 2017? Time is flying by, probably because we’ve been having so much fun! This week, there are a TON of holiday themed events happening, but, don’t forget there are a few that take place the entire month of December – State Auto’s Christmas Corner – Life-Size Nativity Scene, Fantasy of LightsDowntown Holiday Lights and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium: Wildlights.

Monday, December 12

HO HO Hope for the Holidays – Head to Kendra Scott at Easton and enjoy a VIP shopping experience with sips, sweets and of course BEAUTIFUL Kendra Scott Jewelry! Get all your holiday shopping done as both Kendra Scott and OneHope Wine and gifts will be donating 20% of proceeds benefiting Christine’s Christmas and the Makeawish Foundation of Central Ohio. CHEERS to making an impact!

Tree of Lights Ceremony –  Honor, celebrate, and remember meaningful lives and lives well lived through My Source Point’s Tree of Lights program. This is an annual tradition where you are able to designating a light on the tree in honor of those who are closest to your heart, either living or passed. With each light, you have a chance to recognize the special people in your life. After, you will enjoy joyful music and refreshments.

Ugly Sweater for Contest for PETS – Gahanna Animal Hospital is hosting this event all week. All species are allowed to enter. They don’t care care if it’s store bought or homemade, they just want to see YOUR pet in an UGLY SWEATER!

December Mom & Me – Head to Marcy’s Playground Dublin to hear a story, eat and snack and make a cute plate for Christmas. Or if you prefer, you can pick any other plate on site.

Tuesday, December 13

December Grown-Up & Me Art: Holiday Greetings! – Anna from Art with Anna hosts a wonderful art class the second Tuesday of each month. You’ll make something that you and your kiddo can do together. Don’t forget to dress in messy clothes, spills guaranteed! *This may be a good idea for a homemade holiday gift*

Wreath Decorating at Camelot Cellars – This holiday, create the most festive piece of decor in your house, a custom holiday wreath with Tammy! For $35, you’ll get a glass of wine and your very own holiday wreath creation. Tammy will guide you through making and decorating your very own holiday wreath complete with bows, festive decorations and all supplies needed (forms, pins, wire, hot glue and more!). Feel free to bring any decorations you would like to add to your wreath! You’ll create a one of a kind wreath to share with your family and friends! Spots are limited so be sure to reserve your spot on Eventbrite!

Dinner with Santa – Santa is coming to Chick-fil-A Market at East Broad. Enjoy time with Santa and other fun holiday activities. Get your picture taken with Santa as well as the Santa and Elf Cows. This will be a merry-filled night of fun for all!

Wednesday, December 14

Healthy Pets Holiday Pictures with Santa – Head to Healthy Pets of Wedgewood for Christmas pictures with your animal! You do not have to be a registered client, but they do ask for your animal to be updated on vaccines (Non-clients please bring proof of vaccines). Admission is free!!

Mad Mad Men: Swingin’ Holiday Show –  This is a show you don’t want to miss! Mark Frye and Tony Alfano are the Mad Mad Men, and have brought this Holiday show to the McConnell Arts Center for five years in a row. Playing hits from the great American song book as well as Holiday faves from the early 1960’s, these talented and seasoned members of the well known “Phil Dirt and the Dozers” band are sure to turn out another memorable show! Come enjoy the season and let the music take you back to a simpler time in America… of sharkskin suits, polaroid cameras and the whiskey sour…a time when every AM car radio played the tunes that would become the “Baby-Boomer” hits of today by Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat Cole and more.

Goodale Park Paint and Pour – During this two hour class for beginners, you will have the chance to create the perfect holiday gift. The image of Gooddale Park will already be sketched out on all canvases!  All you have to do is bring a friend or two, and sit down at your canvas in The Hub to enjoy a relaxing night out. They will walk you through the painting step-by-step and help with touch-ups. Beverages will be available for purchase [separately] in The Hub at Soul Bar. They will provide a special drink menu for guests.

Thursday, December 15

Holiday Cards – Bring your kiddo to Zen Kidz to take a part in that process of creating their own lovely holiday cards! Children will get to experiment with printing their own unique cards.

Wine & Holiday Cookies – Cookies are a great way to celebrate the holidays… but wine makes them even better! For $3 you will get 3 cookies from Mrs. Turbo’s Cookies,  perfectly paired with 3 wines from Camelot! Mrs. Turbo’s will be selling cookies for purchase during the event as well so make sure you’re stocking up for the holidays. Tastings will be done at your own pace, so come whenever is most convenient for you. Purchase your tickets here.

Martinis and Mistletoe – Head to The Athletic Club of Columbus  for festive cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres, paired with live jazz music and plenty of holiday cheer. Free to attend for members and guests. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, Member charge bar.

Friday, December 16

Kate’s Kustom Wreaths: DIY Holiday Wreath – Join Kate Thompson at Art With Anna  for a super fun Wine Your Art Out: Holiday Wreaths! All wreath-making supplies are provided, BYOB (and any snacks you may want) for added inpsiration. Kate will lead you through making this gorgeous wreath, perfect to hang for the season! There are 3 options of which you may choose to make 1: Holiday Burlap, Holiday PomPom, Holiday Vintage Ornament or Holiday Ball Ornament.

Nina & Virginia Save Christmas – Disaster has struck the North Pole! Santa has gone missing, and as it turns out, the two most unlikely of people who can save Christmas in time are Nina and Virginia! Go on a holiday adventure with the West’s and have the holly-est, jolly-est of Christmases since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny Kaye! You can purchase tables, balcony seating, and general admission passes here.

Dickens of a Christmas at Ohio Village Tickets on-line– Capture the spirit of holidays past at Ohio Village, where Charles Dickens’s festive and enduring vision comes to life through jolly carols, decorations and traditions inspired by his colorful tales. Enjoy craft and cooking demonstrations and shop P. Wylie’s Emporium for the perfect gift.

Holiday Cookie Nights at Young Chefs Academy – Kiddos will create, bake and decorate a wide array of sweet treats to take home and share with the whole family. Registration is required!

Saturday, December 17

Ohio Made Last Chance Holiday Shoppe – Join the Ohio Made Market for the Last Minute Holiday Shop. This SMALL event will feature 10 handmade Ohio vendors in an environment where you can both drink local and shop local for those last minute gifts.

Hot Cocoa Bar benefiting Food For Good Thought – Join Food for Good Thought, a social enterprise offering jobs to people with Autism, for hot cocoa! They will have hot chocolate with all the fixings, like whipped cream, peppermint, marshmallows, and more. Don’t forget to bring cash- all money leaves with Food For Good Thought!

Breakfast with Santa – Head to Worthington have breakfast with Santa. For $6 a person, you will enjoy all you can eat pancakes, eggs and sausage. Purchase tickets here.

Ohio Artisan POP up SHOP – Join local artisans and get your local shop on at CoHatch in Worthington! Make sure to bring a canned food item to donate to the Worthington resource pantry.

Annual Ugly Sweater Party! – Marshall’s Grandview is hosting their  annual Ugly Sweater Party, including a tap takeover with 6 of delicious beers from Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery

Sunday, December 18

Shawna Corder: Christmas Tribute to Eva Cassidy – Shawna Corder, a gifted songwriter who has been entertaining audiences throughout the country for a number of years, will be at Natalie’s for a special Christmas edition of her Tribute to Eva Cassidy show, featuring her all-star band.

Hocking Valley Scenic Railway: Santa Train – Ride the holiday decorated train with Santa himself! During the two hour train ride, Santa will visit each child. Enjoy the view and the festivities aboard the Santa Train! These train rides run Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 2pm each.

Santa and Holiday Fun at Oakland Nurseries [All Locations] – Get your photos taken with Santa at all locations on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm – 3:30pm. At each location, there are  other fun holiday experiences, like horse-drawn carriage rides [not all locations] , live music, free food [not all locations], and so much more. Check out Oakland Nurseries Holiday flyer [pages 4 and 5] to see what is happening at each location.

‘Tis the Season (Slate Run Farm) – Take a break from the holiday bustle with a quiet stroll around the farm. String popcorn and make an ornament to take home.

Holiday Family Fun at the Chiller (Easton and North) -There will be appearances by Hockey Santa during the 1:30pm public skating sessions. Free skating instruction from 1:30-2:30p and free Cookie Decorating.
