“A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns.”
― Corina Abdulahm-Negura
If you’re a fan of sunflowers or just want that perfect photo op for the internet (or maybe you just want a nice family photo for Grandma) — make sure you save the date for the Coshocton Sunflower Festival.
In it’s second year, The Coshocton Sunflower Festival is all about experiencing the joy of spending time with your friends, family and loved ones in a 4-acre field of the happiest flowers – sunflowers!
Fun Fact: They have over 40 varieties of sunflowers on the field!
While at the festival, you’ll have the opportunity to spend as much time as you would like taking pictures, exploring the field, and learning all about the different types of sunflowers.
The festival features 4 unique fields for guests to explore.
Display Gardens: The entrance of the festival showcases unique varieties of sunflowers in our display gardens. Check out the patches of color and choose your favorite! You’ll find a mixture of these varieties throughout the big field!
The Wilds: In “The Wilds” guests may cut a sunflower which is included with EVERY ticket, or pick your pre-purchased 6, 12, or 18 Sunflowers from a mixture of 20 different varieties! Take a little ray of sunshine home with you to enjoy!
Sea of Yellow: The “Sea of Yellow” is a huge field of 5-6 ft tall classic yellow sunflowers. Climb up the bridge and take all the photos you can in the beautiful sea.
While the sunflowers are the main attraction, that’s not all you;; find All weekend, you can enjoy live music, activities, arts & crafts vendors, beer garden, food trucks & other special events. I can’t wait to try Real McCoy BBQ’s Pulled Pork Nachos and {new this year} – Coshocton KOA’s freshly squeezed lemonade! Perfect for a hot summer day!
Cost:
Depending on the day, tickets range from $7 – $12. *parking is free*
Included in your ticket is “A Sunflower for Every Soul.” You get to choose and cut a sunflower of your choice in The Wilds and Sea of Yellow fields. This year, they’ve added 24 new varieties for a grand total of 44 different types of sunflowers! The event is an outdoor event and therefore held weather permitting. - Should a complete crop failure arise, tickets will be exchanged for McPeek’s Mighty Maze tickets OR Coshocton KOA camping & merchandise certificates.
- All ticket sales are final. NO cash refunds.
Pro-tip from Morgan, Coshocton KOA: Come on Friday. There is a special “Family Savings Day” on Friday and tickets are cheaper. Also, those who come on Friday get to see the field first before other attenders have come and cut their live sunflowers to take home (which is a really fun memento); however, I think nature is always the most beautiful when it is natural.
Location:
24688 County Road 10, Coshocton OH, 43812
If you haven’t been, Coshocton is about an hour and a half northeast of Columbus. Give or take a bit. I am never the driver, always the passenger. Maybe google maps it first! 😉
Dates and Hours:
August 16: 4pm – 9pm
August 17: 10am – 9pm
August 18: 12pm – 7pm
This festival is the perfect way to end out the summer! While the date is approaching quickly, you can follow along on their Facebook/Website/Instagram for sneak peeks of the gorgeous fields!
