This summer, get ready to be amazed by David Rogers’ Massive “Big Bugs” Art Exhibit. Starting Memorial Day Weekend, The Dawes Arboretum will host this extraordinary exhibit for the very first time. Picture larger-than-life insect sculptures crafted entirely from natural forest materials, some stretching up to 25 feet in length and weighing as much as 1200 pounds! From graceful dragonflies to majestic praying mantises, these remarkable creations serve as both awe-inspiring works of art and invaluable educational tools.

Katie Carter, Interim CEO for The Dawes Arboretum, expresses her excitement for the exhibit: “We could not be more thrilled to welcome this massive installation to the Arboretum this summer—our biggest one yet. The ‘Big Bugs’ are incredible works of art, and will be a very fun, educational experience for our guests. While very large in scale, these critters will fit right in to our beautiful landscape.”

Since its debut in 1994, the “Big Bugs” exhibit has captivated audiences nationwide, with nearly 100 exhibitions in over two-dozen states, including prestigious venues like the New York Botanical Gardens and Disney’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.

Admission is free for members, and even if you’re not a member, it’s still super affordable at $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-15. If you find yourself drawn back for more visits, consider the Family Membership ($80) for a host of awesome perks like free admission, discounts at the gift shop, and reciprocal benefits at over 300 gardens across North America, along with exclusive event invitations.
