Småland Hours:

👉🏽All children between the height 37" - 54" who are toilet trained are welcome to play here!
👉🏽Choose a box and put your child's coat inside. Remember to leave your child's shoes on. No bare feet allowed.
👉🏽Caregivers need to complete sign-in before heading to the nest box entrance.
👉🏽Take everything with you to the entrance of Smảland the magic forest.
👉🏽To make all the fun playing in Smäland safe, we have a few simple routines.
👉🏽In an emergency evacuation, we will bring your child to safety and give them proper attention at the meeting point, located outside by the handicap parking.
👉🏽All children are required to wear their shoes.
👉🏽Your child is welcome to play in Smäland as time permits. If they start to miss you, we'll contact you via SMS text message or overhead announcement to return to Smaland.

Cousins 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 Creeking at Highbanks Metro Park

How to Get There:
1️⃣ Park at the Highbanks Metro Park Nature Center.
2️⃣ Walk through the Nature Center and go left.
3️⃣ Follow the Dripping Rock Trail until you find the stairs.
9️⃣ Cross the bridge and enter the ravine on your left.

▶️ Similar to Shale Hollow Creeking, but this one keeps going, letting you walk until you’re ready to turn back. Unlike Shale Hollow, it’s not a loop, so you decide when the adventure ends.
▶️ Watch water seep down the ravine walls made of tightly layered shale. This creates a beautiful, natural sight along the Dripping Rock Trail.
▶️ Look for round rocks called concretions, ranging from a few inches to ten feet in diameter. These formed around decomposing plant or animal matter, attracting minerals and creating dense rocks. Erosion has exposed these fascinating formations at Highbanks.

From August 1 to September 29, 7 P.M. to 10 P.M., this 8-week event will transform the zoo with over 60 sets of stunning, larger-than-life Asian lanterns, each one beautifully crafted to represent animals from around the world.

Did you know it’s Manic Monday at @starlanespolaris!? You know what that means?! Half-price hourly bowling and shoe rental! If you get there before 4PM, it’s $20 an hour for the lane and $2/shoe rental. 🎳

Salad & fries over burgers?! 😳😎 @bru.burger.bar is known for their signature BURGERS, but let me tell you - their salad game is ON POINT and the fries are to die for. 🥗🍟 I went with the Buttermilk Cobb: romaine, bacon, tomato, guacamole, red onion, boiled egg, gorgonzola, crouton, and cucumber. The hand-cut fries were fried to perfection. Be sure to order the BRU fries appetizer, which comes with house ketchup, black pepper mayo, and house chipotle BBQ sauce.

Bonus - Kids’ meals are awesome ($8) and even better, on the way out they mentioned kids eat free on Tuesdays! 🎉

Younger toddlers? This playground is perfect! ☀️ Towers Park, just off of County Line & Spring Rd. has structured geared towards 6-23 month olds and 2 – 5 year olds! We LOVED it when the girls were younger. 🩷

The splash pad at Hanby Park (115 E. Park St.)is smaller, making it perfect for younger kids. ☀️ 💦There’s also a playground. However, note that there isn’t much shade at this park, especially over by the playground. Behind the splash pad, there are swinging benches and some trees that provide shade, perfect for a picnic.

📌 The splash pad is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer.
🚽 Yes, they have bathrooms!
📚 It sits behind the @westervillelibrary, which is a perfect place to cool down, too. They have GREAT programs!!!
