Discovering Bodega: A Columbus Gem with Delicious Food and a Cool Vibe

Bodega, is undoubtedly one of my favorite spots in Columbus. They are famous for their $1 grilled cheese and their unique and delicious food menu. Whether you are looking for a perfect business lunch, romantic date night, pre-game spot, or happy hour, Bodega is the place to be. The ambiance is incredible, and their 47 taps and vast beer menu, seasonal cocktail list, and a fantastic covered patio make it a must-visit place. Don’t forget to try their amazing $10 mule pitcher while enjoying the incredible food and vibe.

Their space is absolutely dreamy with its rustic brick walls, stylish bar, and ambient lighting. It exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I find myself wanting to transport the entire ambiance to my own house!

After the marathon (that we did not run), we were starving (from all that non-running we did) and decided to hit up Bodega. We hadn’t been in awhile. Not sure if we’ve actually ever been there for brunch.

I should have got a glass of their sangria. They looked delicious.

My husband usually orders a bloody mary if it’s on the menu, but unfortunately, I’m not a fan. Despite loving tomatoes, I just can’t seem to enjoy tomato juice mixed with vodka. However, what I can appreciate are the snacks that come with it. As a big olive fan, I’m always excited to have them as a garnish. Although, I’ve never had the courage to ask for a side of olives, even as a joke. On top of the brunch cocktails, Bodega has an extensive beer menu with plenty of options to choose from. Check it out for yourself here.

The salt is so pretty!

I opted for water this time and couldn’t help but admire the container it was served in. It’s such a stylish piece, and I later learned that it can be purchased at IKEA for a reasonable price of $2.99 or maybe $3.99. I definitely need to get one for myself.

Their brunch menu isn’t extensive, but that didn’t make my decision any easier. I had a hard time choosing what to order because everything sounded delicious. Even though I’m not a fan of salmon or egg salad, the loaded bagel still caught my attention with its mouth-watering description.

Let’s just say we attempted to balance out our brunch with a side salad instead of fries. Okay, fine, we got the salad because we wanted to justify ordering a large serving of truffle fries. Guilty as charged. But hey, at least we took the salad home with us and my husband did actually eat it eventually!

The Crispy Potato Cake at Bodega is a must-try dish. Loaded up with bacon, cheese, scallions, and sour cream, it’s priced at just $5 and packs a punch of flavor in every bite. Plus, it’s perfectly crispy and delicious.

Truffle & Sea Salt Fries – Crispy shoestring fries seasoned with sea salt and truffle oil, topped with fresh parmesan and served with a side of tomato aioli dipping sauce. At only $6, make sure to go for the larger order – you won’t regret it.

Bodega’s “Big Mic” burger is a game-changer. This masterpiece boasts two juicy angus beef patties, melty American cheese, crunchy iceberg lettuce, house-made pickles, and a special sauce sandwiched between a pillowy brioche bun. At just $12, it’s worth every penny. Trust us, once you sink your teeth into this burger, you won’t be able to resist ordering it again. And if you come back on Sunday night, you can snag this burger, a generous serving of sea salt & truffle fries, and a beer for only $10. It’s a deal you don’t want to miss.

I couldn’t resist ordering the chicken and waffles again, even though I had just indulged a few days prior. As someone who typically prefers savory dishes, I was surprised to find myself craving something sweet from the menu. And once I saw churros listed as an option, I knew I had to try them. Bodega’s take on the classic chicken and waffles combines crispy Southern fried chicken with a churro-style waffle, topped with a delicious maple cayenne butter, fresh fruit compote, and pure Ohio maple syrup. The result is a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and a little bit spicy, making for a truly mouthwatering dish.

“The best chicken & waffles you’ve ever had” – southern fried chicken, churro style waffle, maple cayenne butter, fresh fruit compote and Milligan’s pure ohio maple syrup. $13
