Apple Butter Stirrin' Festival at Roscoe Village

This is one of my favorite festivals in Ohio (even tho I haven’t made it in a few years). Roscoe Village will be decked out for the festival – creating a weekend of fall foliage, delicious apple butter and tons of fun!

If you haven’t been to Roscoe Village (in Coshocton) – this is the perfect first visit.

I have been a few times, however, I haven’t been in the last couple of years — so, I can only imagine its gotten bigger and better!

What is the Apple Butter Stirring’ Festival?

Roscoe Village’s Apple Butter Stirrin’ recaptures the flavor of an old time harvest celebration. Highlighting this 49 year old festival is the making of homemade apple butter in large copper kettles over crackling wood fires. Over 100 craft and food vendors line the street, displaying a number of handcrafted items and a variety of mouth-watering food choices. Visitors may sample the sweetness of homemade apple butter hand-stirred in a huge kettle over a wood fire and tap their feet to the tune of a variety of outdoor musical performances.

My favorite part of the festival is smelling the fresh apple butter, walking in and out of the shops (check out the list of unique shops here) and eating all the delicious food — all while listening to bluegrass music!

Throughout the weekend, there will be special events – including Living History Tours, Spirit of Roscoe lantern tours (Friday & Saturday only), canal boat rides, and a children’s activity area.

Roscoe Village transports you back to a time when the Ohio & Erie Canal was bustling with canal boats. Visit the restored 1800s canal town and follow in the footsteps of living history, stroll through the gardens, tour the museums and exhibits and experience a horse-drawn canal boat ride on a section of the Ohio & Erie Canal.
