Holiday Gift Guide 2020: Candles

There is no such thing as *too* many candles, right?

Whether you’re looking for a cozy winter-scented fragrance, a way to pamper your mom with a little aromatherapy, or on the hunt for a scent that will help you relax after a long day of working — a candle is the perfect solution. But, before you go out and pick a candle off the big box store shelf, keep in mind that we have many local makers that you can purchase handmade candles from instead!

Cultivated Candle Co.

Cultivated Candle Co is one of my favorite locally-owned candle shops. Owned by Colleen and Jeremy Owners Colleen and Jeremy, the cutest couple (watch their IG stories), hand-make vintage-inspired soy candle with just a touch of regal style and farmhouse freshness. One of my favorite things about them is their vintage hauls. They find unique dishes/containers at antique malls around the State and turn them into gorgeous candles.

As of now this is on their site with the option of choosing the scent. See. I told you. Super cute!
They also have their standard candle jar. I can’t wait to shop their Retro Holiday Collection! It features six new signature candles and wax melts.

The Candle Lab

I am almost certain you’ve heard of The Candle Lab, right? They have a few shops around Central Ohio and have been helping people discover the magic of custom scent for more than 10 years. What I love about them is the unlimited creative possibilities. Sometimes you just can’t find a scene ¥øu love or you just want to change a tiny thing about it – this is the place to do that. While they do have pre-made candles, they have the option of creating your own! Even better, I swear their employees are magical scent wizards. I can describe what I am looking for and they’ll help me whip that right up!

Read about our date night to The Candle Lab in Grandview here. We went what feels like forever ago – but, it’s always such a great time!

Eleventh Candle Co.

Eleventh Candle Co is such a special company here in Columbus. The candles are handcrafted by survivors of trafficking, abuse, exploitation, addiction. Your purchase supports the employment, rehabilitation & nurturing of these women. They have a lovely range of scents, from crisp & invigorating to warm & comforting. One of my favorites is honey & fig – a soothing blend of sweet vanilla and honey-golden brown sugar, laced with a hint of musk.

You can purchase in store at The Madery in Worthington, OH.

R&R Candles, LLC

I haven’t shopped R & R Candles, but I love what I found online – they’re quite creative and I appreciate that they use the simple concept of local sourcing and sustainability. Over 90% of their inventory comes from Ohio and they donate 10% to an animal rescue group of the month! Their candles are hand-poured and are all-natural. They use 100% pure, soy wax with ECO- Series wicks (all cotton wicks)  to promote an ECO-friendly environment for our planet.

M/O Supply Co

M/O Supply Co creates thoughtfully crafted cocktail-inspired scents made out of soy wax. I love the way that they describe their inspiration for making candles.

The thought and creativity that goes into modern cocktails is absolutely amazing. Much like candles, discovering the right elements and techniques of a drink has become a science. We create unique scents based on drink recipes and usually match the scent to an exact flavor profile. In some cases, however, we simply create a candle that reflects a personal interpretation of a drink’s qualities.

I appreciate and admire the clean branding that they use – very aesthetically pleasing. The candles have such a gorgeous look to them, and the names are quite creative.
