6 Valentine’s Day PlayDough Recipes

We love making homemade playdough. It only takes a few minutes to whip up and last for quite some time. Plus, you have endless possibilities when it comes to creativity. You can add glitter, scents, color, etc. Whatever you theme or activity is, you can surely match a playdough to it. The best part is you more than likely already have all the necessary ingredients in your pantry.

This is my go-to playdough recipe recipe, and below are six fabulous Valentine’s Day themed playdough recipes to try.

Strawberry Shortcake Playdough

This recipe by Glued to My Crafts Blog is made using a simple pack of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Flavor Mix! I’ve never tried this before, but you can find it for super cheap at Walmart in the baking aisle.

Amazing No Cook Strawberry Playdough

Natural Beach Living created the perfect recipe using jello, which can be difficult, but this sounds great. She says it looks, feels, and smells wonderful – all things you want in homemade playdough. I think I am going to pick-up strawberry and cherry next time I am at the grocery store.

Chocolate Playdough

How fun is this one! I bet it smells absolutely delicious. Hopefully not too delicious because the girls already like to taste play dough. Ha. You could even recycle chocolate boxes to play with.

STRAWBERRIES & CREAM SCENTED PLAYDOUGH

The Imagination Tree used natural ingredients for both the color and scent, which I love. I don’t mind when the girls mix play dough, but this recipe is meant to be mixed together! You make one half with vanilla and the second half with tea bags.

Pink GLITTER PLAYDOUGH

Confession: I love glitter and am not afraid to use it in all crafts! Mom Dot made the perfect ombre glitter playdough, and I can’t wait to make it. She used pink gel food dye to color it and to add a yummy scent – strawberry candy flavoring oil. GENIUS.

Valentine Edible Peeps Playdough

I can’t decide if I like peeps or not. Do you like peeps? I think I like them in s’mores and I think I will like them in this recipe! On their own? Maybe not. This is another excellent recipe from Natural Beach Living. I love this recipe because if your kiddo puts it in their mouth, there isn’t anything to worry about!

Once you’ve picked out your recipe, it’s time to collect some fun things to play with the playdough. The Dollar Tree, as you know, is my favorite spot to find these things at. You could pick up heart gems, colored googly eyes, pink and red straws, small heart cookie cutters, pink/purple/red pipe cleaners, etc. I suggest picking up a serving tray (at Dollar Tree) with a few different dividers in it. That way you can easily organize and set it out for the kiddos to create with. Check out the picture below from Fantastic Fun and Learning blog – it is the perfect example of what I am talking about!

I hope you have the best Valentine’s Day and find a new recipe or two that works for you!
