Discovering Wilson Hill Park – A Hidden Gem in Worthington

If you’re on the hunt for a hidden gem in Worthington, look no further than Wilson Hill Park. Tucked away in a cozy neighborhood just north of 161, this place is an absolute must-visit.

Now, I know GPS can be a little tricky sometimes, but don’t worry – it’ll get you there. Just keep an eye out for the playground sign – that’s your cue to turn. Trust me, it’s easy to miss (or maybe that’s just me!). But once you arrive, you’ll be so glad you found it.

Don’t let the fact that this park isn’t brand new fool you – it’s got tons of amazing features packed into its 3-acre space! You’ll find everything from basketball and tennis courts to a playground, shelter house, drinking fountain, and plenty of picnic tables.

And if you’re in the mood for a leisurely stroll or a picnic on the grass, this park has got you covered with its walking path and sprawling green space. In fact, it’s such a popular spot for summer camp activity that we stumbled upon a tennis camp during our visit. My girls had a blast watching and cheering on the players from across the court!

Did you know that Wilson Hill Park has a cool historical feature? Back in the day, this spot used to be part of the inner urban trolley car line that ran from Columbus to Delaware. Nowadays, you can still see remnants of the old tracks – rows of parallel trees mark the path where the trolley used to travel. It’s like a little slice of local history right in the park!

This park has really captured our hearts for so many reasons. One of the best things about it is the way the playground and surrounding trees provide just the right amount of shade. Plus, the layout is super smart – the playground is set back from the road, which is perfect for those little runners in your life!

I especially love that the swings are off to the side, giving plenty of space for toddlers to explore and play without getting in the way. And speaking of play, this playground is seriously perfect for little ones to become confident climbers.

When it’s time to take a break and refuel, you’ll find a few picnic tables at the shelter, but don’t worry – there are plenty more scattered throughout the green space. And the best part? Most of them are covered!

My girls LOVE to swing. It’s a great day when there are three swings available!

The Free Libraries at Worthington’s parks are a real game-changer. They provide the perfect opportunity for a little rest and relaxation without the need to force a break. While we love the concept, we did notice that most of the books available were geared towards adults.

But fear not! You can help out by bringing a few of your favorite children’s books to donate on your next visit. It’s an easy way to give back and ensure that everyone has access to great reading material. We’ve even set a reminder to do the same!

One of our favorite things to do at Wilson Hill Park is to take a stroll on the walking path, especially now that it’s become our girls’ new favorite activity. It’s so heartwarming to see them holding hands as they explore the park together. The walking path offers a beautiful view of the park’s greenery and it’s the perfect place for a leisurely family walk.
