Summer Fun at The Scioto Mile

From splashing in the Scioto Mile Fountain to trying out stand up paddleboarding on the Scioto to FREE concerts, this summer is filled with FUN in Downtown Columbus.

I am thrilled to share that summer events are back on in Downtown Columbus. Do you remember how fun Wednesdays were for the kids? Fountains. Music. Activities. Well, that’s BACK! And how does grabbing local carryout from one of our Downtown restaurants and listening to music by the riverfront to wind down the work week sound? That’s happening on Fridays! As I said, I am THRILLED to explore Downtown this summer!

Opening Day Celebration : Scioto Mile Fountain

When: Friday, May 27 – 11:00am – 2:00pm
Where: Bicentennial Park, 233 S Civic Center Drive
What: Celebrate the unofficial start of summer and take the first walk through The Scioto Mile Fountain presented by the American Electric Power Foundation. Experience all the fun the fountain has to offer – plus a little extra. From 11 :00 am – 2 :00 pm enjoy games on the grass, music and an extra – festive atmosphere. This marks the first day of the fountain’s regular hours of operation!

Scioto Mile Fountain

When: Daily from 11:00am – 6:00pm, May 27th – September 5th
Where: Bicentennial Park, 233 S Civic Center Drive

FREE Family Fun at the Fountain

When: Wednesdays, June 15 – August 10 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm
No event on June 29 due to Red White and Boom or July 20 due to Jazz and Rib Fest set up!
Where: Bicentennial Park, 233 S Civic Center Drive
What: Load up the crew and come Downtown for even more fun at the Fountain! Splashing i n the fountain is fun as it is, but every Wednesday we’re upping the ante and adding extra activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. Whether you’re walking through the water jets, playing games on the grass or enjoying the weekly kid – friendly performances , it’s sure to be a blast . Hungry? You can grab a kid – friendly bite from a food cart or order from Milestone 229 !

Important – Parking available on the street or RiverSouth Garage (232 S Front Street)

Music on the Mile

When: Fridays – July 29, August 5 Saturdays – June 25, July 2 – 30, August 6
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Coleman’s Pointe
What: Acoustic. Authentic. Amazing. No muss, no fuss, just music. Swing by throughout the summer and get treated to an incredible lineup of Columbus’ uber – talented street musicians making music at Coleman’s Pointe. Stop and listen for a minute or sit down and enjoy an extended stay at a handful of nearby tables. If you’re a chill – mode pro, bring a blanket + a book and relax on the banks of the Scioto River while soaking up some rays. Plans made.

A food cart will be available nearby at Civic Center & Town, but you can always bring your own bite or grab a meal to go from Milestone 229. Open – air entertainment, the schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

FREE SUP Yoga on the Scioto

When: Tuesdays – July 5 – August 30, 5:30pm & 6:45pm
Where: Meet at the Main Street Bridge Boat Launch (near Bicentennial Park).
What: Whether you’re a hard – core yogi or just discovering downward dog, we’ve got a way to take your practice to a whole new level: on the water. Join us weekly for stand – up paddleboard Yoga on the Scioto River . S tretch your mind and body while winding your way through Downtown. Skyline views included.
Cost: Classes are free , but there’s a $15 no – show fee. Registration is required and opens weekly on Wednesdays at 10am for classes on the following Tuesday. Space is limited and they expect classes to fill up fast so mark your calendar to make sure you don’t miss out!
More Details: Each class is one hour and accessible for any skill level, from brand – new beginner to experienced SUPer.

Food Carts on the Riverfront

When: June 1 – October 1
Where: Bicentennial Park – Wednesdays 11:00am – 2:00pm and Town & Civic Center (The Prow) – Fridays 11 :00 am – 2 :00 pm, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 5:00pm – 9:00pm
What: Next time you’re taking a lunch time, afterwork or weekend walk on the Scioto Mile, keep an eye out at Town & Civic Center (the Prow) for pop – up food carts featuring a cross – section of crowd – pleasing cuisines. From classic American fare to ginormous gyros to frozen treats, grab a bite then sit and stay awhile on the Scioto Mile.
