Spend a Relaxing Weekend at Enchanted Estates in Hocking Hills

We were invited to stay at Enchanted Estates in McArthur (Hocking Hills) in exchange for our review! All opinions/pictures are our own unless noted otherwise.

We LOVE Hocking Hills. Can you believe we have something so magical in our state?! Even better that it is an easy drive from Columbus, just like this gorgeous house. About an hour and twenty minutes from Columbus, you’ll find Enchanted Estates situated up on a hill with stunning views and many amenities for a relaxing yet exciting weekend away.

Feel the magic as you walk in the door and are calmed by the beautiful features of this home, with three gas fireplaces, huge bedrooms, and a generous space to spread out and relax.

Let’s just start with one of my FAVORITE spots in the house – the main living room. I love love love the detail in the ceiling, all of the textures, and of course, the floor-to-ceiling windows! It doesn’t hurt that there is a gas fireplace and record player to create the perfect ambiance.

This room is connected to the dining room, kitchen, screened-in patio, and door right to the hot tub. The house is excellent for big groups because the rooms are very private, giving you your own space, but the main living area is large enough to connect and be together.

Anywhere else to just chill and hangout inside?

Yep! The enormous finished basement that feels like the basement of your childhood dreams. They have basketball, fuzzball, a large TV, a few toys for the kids + a play kitchen, games and puzzles, and an oversized, comfy couch – perfect for movie night! I will say I am glad we brought some of our favorite games and toys; I suggest doing the same. The kids loved running all around and having many dance parties.

What are the sleeping arrangements?
5 bedrooms, 11 beds, Sleeps 16

The bedrooms are set up with families in mind, especially families with multiple kids. We stayed in the upstairs master, which had a king and a twin trundle bed. The girls felt like they had their own room and enjoyed having their own space. The king bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in in a long time.

  • The enormous master suite has a King bed with a twin trundle bed on the other side of the room (two single mattresses) and a rocking chair for getting little ones to sleep!
  •  A second King bedroom has a chaise lounge that is big enough for a child to sleep in.
  •  The Queen bedroom also has a chaise lounge where a child could sleep.
  •  The first floor enormous King bedroom/second master bedroom has a gas fireplace and full-size couch with chaise (big enough for two kids if needed, but also great for private relaxing)
  •  The second first-floor King bedroom has a gorgeous bay window overlooking a beautiful view of the beautiful Hocking Hills area.
  •  The huge finished basement has an enormous couch, including a pull-out double sleeper sofa/bed, plus two foldup futon single mattress/chairs perfect for a sleepover for older kids.

Not pictured below is the huge bed next to the fireplace and the couch, also big enough for someone to sleep on or curl up and read a book. If you love to read, this will be a dream for you โ€” so many cozy spots with gorgeous views.

What is the bathroom situation?
Enough for everyone!

  • There is one full bathroom in the basement.
  • One on the first floor (which has two bedrooms)
  • Two full bathrooms on the second floor (which has three bedrooms),
  • One bathroom has a tub, making bath-time with kids easier.

You’re in Hocking Hills, so what’s the outside situation?

A M A Z I N G. We went on a colder weekend, but nothing could stop us from exploring the outside area. My dream is to have this type of property. There is a 35-acre hiking trail just behind the house, and it is filled with surprises around every corner, including a small cabin behind the house (no heat or water) and a private disc golf course. In the evening, you can relax under the stars while enjoying the hot tub, porch swing, a fire pit for roasting smores, or even have dinner at the large outdoor dining area. When it’s a bit warmer, they have beautiful water features and a HUGE inground pool with a diving board and slide.

The hot tub is a 7-person Hot Spring Salt Water Grandee. It is just outside of the house, making it a very short walk. Best enjoyed after kids go to sleep and under the stars or in the morning with a mimosa and coffee.

You will never find R happier than swinging as high as possible on a swing! They have the perfect one for her age out front, plus a baby swing on the other side of the house and the covered swing you can see in the back of this picture.

Sadly it’s not outdoor swimming time because the pool looked EPIC. In-ground, diving board and slide!? Yes, please! Plus, tons of space for lounging.

What’s close by??

You might not want to leave the house at all, given all the options on-site, but if you’re looking for activities, you can find ziplining, canoeing, fishing, a beach, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, and more within a 15-ish minute drive.

  • An entire grocery store (Campbell’s Market McArthur) is ten minutes away in McArthur, with produce, meats, cheeses, etc.
  • In McArthur, you’ll also find delicious gas station chicken (serious! per Hannah (my sister/@thebeardandthebaker) it is fabulous), a couple pizza places and a coffee shop (Smoke-N-Beans Coffee Bar) that also sells bbq seasonings/sauces, desserts, makes custom signs and sells local gear. Oh, and the best part? The coffee is from Crimson Cup. DELICIOUS + they’re super lovely in there.
  • The house is two minutes from Dollar General, which has a huge inventory, including basic groceries, toiletries, kids’ toys, etc.
  • You can walk down the driveway to the General Store, which has a liquor store on site.
  • The house is 25 – 30 minutes from Old Man’s Cave/Hocking Hills visitor center. It was a pretty easy drive!

Tip: On the way in, make sure you stop at the donut shop on the way in and pick up donuts! They’re open 24/7 and are fabulous. Address: 35633 US Hwy 50, Londonderry, OH 45647. It’s on your left hand side when driving towards the house. Maybe 20 minutes away.

On the way back from Hocking Hills, we took a short detour when we saw a small sign that said “winery.” You don’t have to ask me twice to go to an Ohio winery.  Le Petit Chevalier was a lovely surprise that we can’t wait to get back to. You can see more of our very short visit here.

Thank you for the memories we will never forget!

We really enjoyed our time at this house. It felt like home as soon as we walked in, and we would most certainly stay again, especially to enjoy the pool in the summer! The girls kept saying this was the “BEST HOLIDAY EVER” — if you watch Peppa Pig, you know what that means.
