Hidden Gem Alert: The Magic of Hocking Hills Children’s Museum

Stepping into the Hocking Hills Children’s Museum feels like walking into a place where anything is possible. From the moment my daughters and I arrived, we were completely taken in by the excitement and wonder around us. It was an adventure we won’t forget anytime soon and I am sure I will be hearing the question, “When can we go back to Hocking Hills!?” over and over again!

Tucked away in Logan, Ohio, this museum is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. It’s packed with hands-on activities that spark creativity and discovery. And trust me, the layout is so well-designed that every corner holds something exciting. Now, full disclosure, we lucked out and visited on a quieter day, but word on the street is that Saturdays can get pretty lively. Pro tip: keep tabs on their Facebook page for updates on how busy it’s getting to dodge any potential wait times!

What truly sets this museum apart is the attention to detail, floor to ceiling. From interactive water tables to imaginative play areas mirroring the community, every exhibit sparks wonder. One highlight was the dig pit sponsored by Columbia Gas of Ohio, where kids can build, dig, and explore. I loved that they filled it with sand-like rubber granule material vs. actual sand!

The thoughtful inclusion of diverse activities ensures there’s something for everyone. The dress-up area with its stage and the exciting water table stole the show for my girls. I thought the water table was super unique. They had a number of different things to do, including a LEGO table inside the water!

And don’t worry, parents of tiny tots, they’ve got you covered too. There’s a cozy, enclosed play area just for the littlest adventurers to join in on the fun.

The staff working were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really made our visit special. From doing arts and crafts to playing with the girls, their genuine kindness made us feel like part of the family. It’s clear that this museum isn’t just a place to visit—it’s a cozy community hub filled with love and openness.

After a couple of hours, we headed out to grab some lunch, though I’m pretty sure we could have happily stayed for another round of fun. That 50-minute drive from Downtown Columbus felt like a breeze compared to the sheer enjoyment we experienced, but really, it’s such an easy drive. Plus, with admission prices at just $10 for both kids and adults, it’s an adventure that offers great value.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a summer spot packed with endless fun and boundless wonder, the Hocking Hills Children’s Museum is your go-to destination. Believe me, it’s a hidden gem that you definitely won’t want to miss out on.
