Summer on the Scioto: Enjoy Free Family-Friendly Events All Season Long!

Are you searching for a fun and free way to spend your summer in Columbus, Ohio? Look no further than the Scioto Mile! Downtown Columbus, Inc., in partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, has put together a summer-long series of events and activities along the Scioto River, kicking off Memorial Day weekend.

Summer on the Scioto will continue all summer long with dozens of free events running through fall, including musical performances, free kayak days, fountain activities, Dorrian Days – events that are fun for all ages, and more.

FREE Scioto Mile Fountain

  • Daily through September 2

  • 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

  • Bicentennial Park, 233 Civic Center Dr

Enhancements made to the fountain include improved functionality, new lighting, water features, and increased seating and shade areas. For information about changes to Fountain hours or closures, visit DowntownColumbus.com/SciotoMile.

FREE Dorrian Days

  • Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • June 11 – Aug. 20. No event on July 2.
  • Dorrian Green, 50 S. Belle Street

Enjoy free family fun with giant inflatables, games, the COSI curbside van, a themed activity station, and a food truck. Plus, cool off in the Dorrian Green water feature.

FREE Fountainside Fun

  • Select Mondays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • June 3 – Aug. 12
  • Bicentennial Park, 233 Civic Center Dr

Experience fountainside fun with live music and performances, tabletop games, food trucks, and more. The whole family can splash at the fountain for free!

  • Mondays: June 3, June 17, June 24, July 8, July 29, Aug 5, Aug 12
  • Thursdays: June 13, June 20, June 27, July 25, Aug 1

FREE Kayak Days

  • Saturday, July 13, and Saturday, August 10
  • 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Boat launch under the Main Street Bridge, near Bicentennial Park

Enjoy complimentary kayak, tandem kayaking, and SUP rentals. All experience levels are welcome. Dates are subject to change based on weather and river conditions.

FREE Midway on the Mile

  • Friday, July 12 – Saturday, July 13, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 10 – Sunday, August 11 | 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Rich Street Bridge

Elevate your festival experience at Midway on the Mile! Head to the Rich Street Bridge overlooking Downtown Columbus for a unique carnival-style event featuring iconic summer fun including a trackless train, obstacle course, wipeout attraction, and more. Explore something new at each event, with a roller rink in July and a putt-putt course in August. Prepare for adult-friendly fun and breathtaking views.

Wednesdays on the Water

  • Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • May 29 – July 31
  • No event on July 3.
  • Boat launch under the Main Street Bridge, near Bicentennial Park

Paddle down the Scioto River with a $15 discount on a one-hour watercraft rental. Spots are limited, so book ahead to secure your kayak! Walk-ins accepted, but not guaranteed. Windrose Outdoor
