Monday, February 20

DogTap Columbus Launch Party – DogTap Columbus is ready to open up to the public! They are located out in Canal Winchester. On Monday, in their “epic” tap room, they will be serving the freshest BrewDog beers, served by their dedicated Cicerone Certified staff! They’ve also got a  craft beer restaurant, which will feature food pairings for all your craft beer needs! They open to the public at 11:00am.

Super Games Open Play – School is closed, but SuperGames fun is OPEN! We love SuperGames. It is a huge warehouse, filled with inflatables, climbing toys and other fun things to entertain the kiddos. Limited availability of 150 children on a first-come first-serve basis, so be sure to arrive in advance. Tickets are available for purchase at our facility on the day of the event; $10 for the first child and $7 per additional child. Make sure children have socks to wear on the inflatables. 10am-12pm!

10 for $10 Wine Tasting – The third Monday of the month, Columbus10for10, a neighborhood-based series of monthly wine tastings around Columbus, pops up somewhere new. This one takes place at one of my favorites spots – The Walrus! They will have 10 wines available to sample for just $10 – from white to red, dry to sweet. The full food menu is available for purchase from The Walrus as well as all bottles of wine from the tasting at regular retail price. No reservations necessary.

Hot Mikeys Takeover Kickoff Party – Hot Chicken Takeover pizza is finally back, and it’s as amazing as you remember! They’re kicking it all off with a pizza party at their downtown location at 268 South 4th. Tickets will include all-you-can-eat pizza during the time listed on the ticket, as well as sponsored Rhinegeist beer tickets.

Wine & Psychic Night – Join Camelot Cellars for their monthly Wine & Psychic Night to find out what your future holds, and try a glass of specialty wine! DIY Basics: Dairy – Have you wondered how to make yogurt at home? Or kefir without additives? Learn to make these cultured milk products and soft cheese like ricotta and cheve in this hands on class with Rachel Tayse of Harmonious Homestead.  You will discuss the science behind preserving goat and cow’s milk through culturing and cheese making and taste samples we make in class. You’ll leave with recipes and the confidence to continue exploring at home!

Brendan Dassey: A True Story of False Confession – OIP-u at Ohio State invites you to attend “Brendan Dassey: A True Story of False Confession” an event sponsored by the Ohio Innocence Project. Presented by Brendan Dassey’s post-conviction attorney Steven Drizin, this lecture provides an inside look at the false confession famously featured in the Making a Murderer documentary series. Professor Drizin uses footage from Brendan’s confession to demonstrate how the psychological techniques commonly used by police during interrogations can produce false confessions especially when used on juveniles.

Astrology 101 – Many people have a strange idea of what astrology actually is. This is a crash course in astro-literacy! Astrology myths will be busted- no, it’s not about 12 personaility types! Learn what the signs actually mean and how they affect your life. Best Bites: Sweet Treats – Columbus Underground’s popular event Best Bites: Sweet Treats is returning bigger and better in its third year on Thursday, February 23. The event will be a celebration of all things sugary and sweet in the city! Local dessert fans will get to taste their way through a wide variety of the city’s dessert makers and vote on their favorite of the night. This year’s event will feature additional space and activities for new and returning guests to enjoy! And with Mardi Gras just around the corner, Arnett Howard will be on stage to get everyone in the spirit with his Creole Funk rhythms all night. Entrance to the event includes samples of each featured sweet treat, live entertainment and a cash bar featuring Negra Modelo USASaint Brendan’s Irish Cream Liqueur and Meier’s Wine Cellars, Inc.Wine. 

Oysters and Stout at Smokehouse Brewing – The winter edition of Smokehouse Brewing Company’s Oysters & Stout happens this Thursday. As always, they’ll be serving oysters shucked fresh, smoked with Chorizo or garlic butter and crisp-fried, along with an impressive selection of stouts, both from the ‘House and from around the country. They start at 4:00 PM when they shuck fresh oysters on the half shell right out of the brewery, while the kitchen, smokes and crisp-fries ’em in the back. They’ll continue until they’re out of oysters or until you’re full. No tickets or reservations, just order some oysters and your favorite porter or stout!

Ekoostik Hookah w/ Electric Orange Peel – One of the most original and energetic acts around today, ekoostik hookah is the nucleus of a family drawn to its lucid, improvisational treatment of psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll, blues, funk, jazz and bluegrass layered with rich harmonies. They will be playing at Park Street Saloon. Tickets are $15.

Get A Pho, Give A Pho – Head to tốt in Upper Arlington to help Yelp! celebrate Columbus Kindness Month.  Bring a friend, neighbor, co-worker, loved one, or even a stranger you met in the parking lot — and buy a pho for yourself and give one away or get a pho for yourself and give a meal to someone affected by homelessness. Camp & Activities Expo – Parents looking to keep their children busy this summer can learn about some local options at a new Camp & Activities Expo. ThisWeek Community News and Columbus Parent are partnering on the Camp & Activities Expo. The free event will feature live entertainment, family activities and more than 40 exhibitors offering information about summer camps, lessons, child care and more. The expo will be held from noon at The Shops at Worthington Place, 7227 N. High St. The event will feature performances, demonstrations, a bounce house, games, balloon artist and more.
