7 Ways to Celebrate the Holidays with your Girlfriends in Downtown Worthington

This holiday season I am looking more towards having experiences over receiving gifts. Creating magical moments that last a lifetime is more important to me than un-wrapping a gift. With that in mind, I came up with seven different ways to celebrate the holidays with your girlfriends by just spending time together, doing something new. I chose to focus on Worthington because they offer a variety of experiences on just one block, making it is easy to plan an entire day or just hit up a spot or two.

Create Custom Home Decor at AR Workshop

AR Workshop is a boutique DIY studio that offers hands-on classes for creating custom and charming home decor from raw materials and is one of my favorite things to do!

I’ve gone a few times to AR Workshop and each time, I fall more in love with it! The owner, Jen, and her entire staff are so great. They walk you through each step of the process and you leave with this gorgeous, custom piece to hang in your house. This would be such a fun girls night (or afternoon). You can register for a class they already have going on or you can choose to have your own private party. That doesn’t necessarily mean you get the entire studio, it just means you’ll get specific tables together!

Check out this blog post from my very first visit.

Relax with Facials at Oasis Face Bar

A new open concept skincare bar that focuses on facials tailored to your skins needs.

If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably noticed I’ve found a new obsession in Oasis Face Bar. We all know how important it is to take care of our skin, but at the same time, we are all pretty busy (especially this time of year). It’s hard to carve out that self-care time consistently. This is where Oasis Face Bar comes to the rescue. Give them 30 minutes, and they”ll give you glowing, radiant skin! They have an open-concept space, where they individualize thirty minute facials based on the needs of your skin. PERFECT!! They even have a party option, where you can gather your girlfriends and pretty much take over their gorgeous space.Gorgeous, glowing skin, your girlfriends and wine all in one night? I’ll take it!

Pour your Own Candle at The Candle Lab

Experiment with scent! The Candle Lab has been helping people discover the magic of custom fragrance for more than ten years.Whether you choose to pour a candle, mix a lotion, or craft a room spray, youโ€™ll find your perfect scent โ€“ and have fun creating it! All of their stores offer hand-poured candles in over 120 unique fragrances, and are made using natural soy wax, pure fragrance oils, and cotton paper wicks for a candle that is long-lasting, clean burning, and true to scent.

The Candle Lab is one of my go-to spots for girls nights. I think it is so much fun and you can create something different each time. My favorite thing to do is create a candle (anyone else obsessed with candles?!?) , but I realized last time there are so many other options. Soaps, scrubs, diffusers, etc. Last time I was in, I asked the girl if they had to go to a special candle training school (or something like that) because man, oh, man…they sure know their scents!! They always help refine what I originally come up with. This is a fun, interactive thing to do with the girls. Plus, it takes an hour or so for the candles to finish up/harden – giving you the perfect amount of time to grab a snack or do a little shopping.

Paint Night at The Party Studio

The Party Studio Columbus offers private wine & canvas painting events …They put the ART in pARTy!

Clearly Hannah and I had zero fun last time we took a class here!

I love a good BYOB painting class with friends. I think it is super fun to watch the paintings progress throughout the night and see what you each come up with. I think the goal is to make it look like the painting you signed up for, but I think everyone ends up having their own version of what they see. Or maybe that’s just my way of making myself feel better. Ha. They do offer guidance and step-by-step instructions, if you’re not familiar. To find a class, head to their website and click on calendar. You will click on the painting you would like to paint and go from there.

Take a Class at Igloo Letter Press

Igloo Letterpress is a letterpress and bookbinding studio dedicated to bringing traditional techniques into modern context.

I have yet to take a class at Igloo Letter Press, but I am a big fan of their shop at the front of the store, Swoonful. They have all things local, including some of the best cards you’ll find in Columbus. Plus, very unique gifts for everyone in your family. As for classes, they offer a variety ranging from Intro to Calligraphy to Letterpress of Designers to Custom Mini Adventure Books. For a girls night, I suggest doing one of their private classes. The class includes a studio tour and a hands-on workshop. There are a few suggested ideas (book binding, coasters, notecards), but they are open to any other ideas you have. More info can be found here.

Wine Tasting at House Wine

Wine novices and enthusiasts have a place to call โ€œhomeโ€ in the Columbus area. Welcome to House Wine, where weโ€™ve made wine buying fun, simple, and interactive since 2007 in Worthington. We focus on education and exploration in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Our customers will be able to find their own โ€œhouse wineโ€ in no time.

I am a big fan of House Wine. I’ve spent a great deal of time there, whether it was for girls night, date night or getting myself through grad school before I drank coffee! They are very knowledgeable, friendly and never judge when I say my budget is $10 this time! They always find the perfect wine. I am also a big fan of their wine dispensing machine. You can also try 16-24 different wines by the ounce or glass. Bonus: They do offer a small snack menu, but you’re able to carryout from any of the neighboring restaurants. How perfect!! They have a such a casual, inviting environment that makes for the perfect girls night.

Oh, and if you want something more “formal” – they do offer wine tastings on Thursday evenings.

Dinner at The Whitney House

Locally sourced, made with love and making their mothers proud. Their menu is inspired by the glory days of Sunday dinners when the entire family–along with a cadre of friends and neighbors– piled into the dining room to sit, catch up and enjoy a delicious meal together. The Whitney House serves made-from-scratch, rustic-yet-refined, American comfort food. They use fresh and local ingredients and constantly look for new and innovative ways to serve our community.

You can’t have a girls day/night without delicious food, right? The Whitney House has you covered for brunch, lunch, happy hour or dinner. As you read above, they describe their food as, “Made-from-scratch, rustic-yet-refined, American comfort food.” I can assure you it is just that. There hasn’t been a time that I have left disappointed. My husband would suggest the The Ohio Burger {house-ground grass-fed beef, Tillamook cheddar, fries} for dinner and I would suggest The Short Rib Scramble {romesco, yukons, red onions, yellow squash, scrambled eggs} for brunch. Both dishes are bursting with flavor. Check out their menus here.

You won’t be able to do all of these things in one day, but I am pretty sure you could make a day out of exploring Worthington with your girlfriends! That would be the most fun. If you want to invite me, I am available. ๐Ÿ˜‰
