Exploring Gahanna: A Playground Tour from Community Parks to Neighborhood Gems

Ready to uncover some of the coolest spots for family fun in Gahanna? We’ve been hopping from park to park and are excited to share our finds with you! From the adventurous setups at the brand new Ambassador Commons and McCorkle Park to the peaceful, nature-filled nooks of Woodside Green Park, there’s a little something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to conquer daring play structures, unwind in a shady picnic area, or just take a casual stroll, Gahanna’s parks have got you covered.

Academy Park

Academy Park is a great playground, even though it’s about to get a makeover starting in early 2025. Until then, we’re loving it just as it is! There’s a main play structure with super fun slides, swings, an old-school zipline that took me right back to my childhood, and a really cool climbing structure I hope they keep. Plus, there are trails, bathrooms, and a covered picnic area. It might not have all the fancy stuff the new playgrounds do, but it’s definitely worth a visit. It’s quiet, tucked away from the road, surrounded by green space—perfect for a picnic! And guess what? There are even two dinosaurs you can climb on!

Note: It looks like they are in the beginning phases of updating this park! I don’t think construction will start until 2025. You can learn more here.

Friendship Park

We recently stumbled upon Friendship Park and instantly fell in love! With separate play areas for older and younger kids, there’s something for everyone. From a variety of climbing structures to slides, swings, and more, the fun never ends. We loved the beautiful trees surrounding the park, leading to a charming storybook trail. Plus, the covered picnic tables and gazebo make it the perfect spot for a leisurely morning or afternoon. Oh, and here’s a tip: You can start your day at the nearby Gahanna Splash Pad and then finish up with a picnic and playtime at Friendship Park!

Another newly renovated park in Gahanna is McCorkle Park, which the girls absolutely loved! The slide is epic! I appreciate how thoughtful the design was, making it accessible for everyone. This includes the flooring, wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, and the play structure featuring a rainbow window. They did a great job!
