Columbus is the best for many reasons. One being, there is ALWAYS something to do! I came up with date night (girls night, group night, whatever night) spot combos for you. Each spot for each day are close to each other, some even walking distance. Each day/night includes something specifically happening on that day of the week, so, don’t try to go to the spots listed for Monday on a Wednesday! Enjoy!
Monday
- Start off at Bodega with a $1 grilled cheese & half-off drafts, starting at 4 p.m. Get there early and you can enjoy an awesome view of High St. from their patio.
- Following your delicious dinner, take an hour long walk throughout different parts of the city with Columbus Landmarks. Explore the art, history and architecture of our Columbus neighborhoods while getting your steps in, each led by by expert historians and guides. The location of this event changes each week. Make sure you check out the website to see where you should meet up at. You do not need to register for this.
Tuesday
- Start the night off at Mitchells Fish Market for happy hour in the bar at the Crosswoods location from 5:00-7:00. This is one of my most favorite happy hours. I suggest trying the tuna poke and moscato white sangria.
- Just a short walk (or drive) is Marcus Theater. Every Tuesday, they offer $5 movies {all day}. The best part is you can reserve your tickets ahead of time, which means you can soak up every second {and drinks} of happy hour.
- If you still have energy after the movie, travel back to the 80s at Level One Bar + Arcade. With a drink in hand all arcade games are free. Pinball is $.50, so bring your quarters!
Wednesday
- If you love tacos, start off at Condado Tacos for happy hour. All tacos are $1 off + 1/2 off margaraitas. If you haven’t been to Condado, you will not be disappointed. The tacos are totally customized to what you want. Plus, you can order a sweet lucy, flour soft tortilla + corn hard shell + queso in between the two + guac. THE BEST! They have great vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options!
- After you’ve stuffed your face with tacos and margs, take a short walk across High Street to Brother’s Drake. If you aren’t familiar with Brother’s Drake, they are a local meadery {honey wine}. They make their mead right on site. On Wednesday nights, they have live jazz music {artist change weekly}! It is a great venue. They have garage doors they put up on nice nights, which lead out to a nice patio.
Thursday
- Start off at El Arepazo Latin Grill {Brewery District} for $5 tapas, $5 cocktails or $3.50 draft beer during happy hour. They serve up the best Latin American food to Central Ohio.
- After dinner, head over to the newly renovated Scioto Mile to take a walk along the water. Make sure to stop and enjoy the view while on the swings!
- After your walk, get your seat for NightLight 614 – a new event coming to Columbus this summer! It is a 21+ social outdoor film series featuring some of favorite cinema classics. Along with that, local food trucks and Ohio’s best breweries & wineries will be providing us with the option to purchase delicious treats throughout the night. The gates will open at 7:30 and that’s when the DJ will start spinning the music to get us ready for the previews. Make sure to bring pillows, blankets, low back chairs, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks!
- As for parking, there is ample meter parking, surface lots, and parking garages located in the area. The COSI lot will also be open for parking, which is directly behind where the movies will be played.
Friday
- Head down to the Brewery District for dinner. There are so many great options in the area: Claddagh Irish Pub, Basil, Columbus Brewing Company or Brick American Kitchen.
- After dinner, walk over to Shadowbox Live for the 7:30 or 10:30 show. Make sure to reserve your tickets prior to going. Right now, they have the Best of Shadowbox 2016 going on. It’s a great show to see whether you have been before or it’s your first time. Keep an eye out for special shows. I saw Rent a few years ago and it was incredible. The actors/actresses at Shadowbox are beyond talented.
Saturday
- If you’re looking for a mini-roadtrip {and you love beer}, this day could be for you. You’ll be traveling 30 minutes outside of downtown to Rockmill Brewery for a beer tasting. First, stop into Katzinger’s Deli in German Village for 20% off their suggested cheese pairings. You should probably pick up desserts at Pistacia Vera, too. {You can also pack a lunch from home or wherever}
- Bonus tip: They are apart of the Columbus Ale Trail. If you aren’t familiar with the Columbus Ale Trail, you will be excited to hear about it. If you visit any of the four breweries on their list, you will earn a free commemorative pint glass. If you visit all 28 stops on the Ale Trail, you will get a custom deck of playing cards featuring all local breweries. You can pick up the book at any of the participating breweries.
- Double Bonus Tip: The Farmhouse and surrounding land is GORGEOUS.
Sunday
- Get up and grab Brunch at Milestone 229. Beef Brisket Hash. Skillet Mac n’ Cheese. Tostadas Verde. Chicken-in-a-Biscuit. Multiple types of Mimosas & Bloody Mary’s. Have I convinced you yet? No, well, just know they have an incredible patio {one of the best in the cities}. Amazing views!
- After brunch, head down the street to the Columbus Museum of Art. You’ll be happy to hear it is FREE on Sundays.
ENJOY!
