Blind Lady Tavern

We  checked out Blind Lady Tavern *FINALLY* and were far from disappointed.

“SERVING MORE THAN JUSTICE SINCE 1831″

It was a gorgeous night, which automatically means we wills it on the patio. While it was a cute (quaint), patio – inside is awesome. There is a pre-Prohibition saloon vibe. I love that dark and cozy type of atmosphere. A small, yet, powerful menu – showcasing a Southern comfort, country cuisine with a New   Orleans flair.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My FAVORITE ITEM ordered WERE THE HUSH PUPPIES WITH CAYENNE HONEY. THEY ARE MADE FROM CORNMEAL AND HAVE PIECES OF WHOLE CORN INSIDE. CRISPY, SALTY AND A BIT LIGHTER THAN A NORMAL HUSH PUPPY. THINK I TASTED A BIT OF JALAPEÑO IN THEM, TOO. NOT ENOUGH TO BE SPICY.IF I CAN GIVE YOU ONE TIP, ORDER MORE THAN ONE BASKET BECAUSE THEY ARE INCREDIBLE.⠀⠀

For dinner, II OPTED FOR THE BLT BANH MI – 5 SPICED BRAISED PORK BELLY, SLAW, CILANTRO, JALAPEÑO, AIOLI AND SOFT ROLL. THE FAT ON THE MEAT LITERALLY MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. THE COMBINATION OF THAT, WITH THE TANGY SLAW, SPICE FROM THE JALAPEÑO AND ROLL THAT WAS PERFECTLY CRISPY ON THE OUTSIDE AND CHEWY ON THE INSIDE – WELL, IT WAS THE BEST. I TRIED TO TAKE HALF HOME FOR LATER, BUT, BY THE TIME SHE BROUGHT THE BOX – IT WAS ALL GONE.

i love this.

I wish we would have had more time to explore both the cocktail and food menu, but, we were in a bit of a rush. I can’t wait to go back. Looking forward to trying fried green tomatoes, stuffed peppers and chicken n’ biscuits.

Keep in mind cocktail hour is from 4PM TO 7PM. Closed on Mondays.
